I just wanted to say that my GC8V is now in Alan's hands for safe keeping. :)
That and I've quit Initial D anyway.

This is the real deal
Challenge Received! And this time, it's looking like this will be the true battle.

I'm talking with the guy out of Orlando and he'll be heading up here around 7 PM on Friday night. He'll be bringing a friend with him, so we'll have two new people to race against. From what I understand, these guys are pretty freaking good. As far as I know,

Akagi DH: 2'24
Akina DH: 3'04
Tsuchi OB: 2'43
Sho any way: 3'03

And all of this with an RX-8, so I know we'll have quite a time trying to match or beat these times. But they seem humble, so it's all good.

I need people to show up and get these guys into Gator Nights, since I won't be getting off of work until later that night. I know Dustin can help me out. We could try to get Steve to help us out and I know others can help out in a pinch. I want to make this work on both ends, so helping out would be awesome.

Let's give it our all and try to have some fun. It'll be good to get some outside talent in our arcade. :p

Project D Subs Final Two Episodes
Although we all prefer Live-Evil, we are also aware of how stupidly slow they are, ze? Here are the final two episodes translated and subbed by Project D. I've watched both and the subs aren't bad at all. Of course, I noticed a few typos here and there, but they're generally understandable for the most part, so no complaints from me.

Episode 23
Episode 24

Though unfortunately, episode 24 seems kinda anti-climatic and disappointing, but I'm guessing it stays true to the manga, ze... And for those that know what I've been playing recently, I must be a complete dork for wanting to do this...

Well worth staying up
Just watched the final two episodes of Initial D 4th Stage. I am most pleased with the outcome of the Ibaraki expedition, though Takumi does it once again. It was cool to see what Ryosuke meant by God Hand being a 'ghost'. I kind of figured by the way Ryosuke explained it but it was worth it to see it confirmed.

They did end with the "See you Again" at the end, so who knows when and how the next series will be done. I would think a movie would be the best choice, seeing as there isn't enough manga material to make a series yet.

And I seriously believe that Daiki and Sakai are the next Shingo and Nakazato. Except that they don't suck at driving and aren't a pair of homophobes.

I'm thinking probable meeting this Thursday. We haven't had a good group race in a long time, so it will be good for all of us to see how we're progressing. I know Alex has a few new tricks up his sleeves.

See You Next Stage.

Worthy of a post
Greetings to all my peeps.

I was in a completed mood today and thought I might as well have some fun with Initial D. I finished 5 stars lit for Myogi, Akagi, and Usui. Once that was completed, I realized that I now have the coveted 20 stars. So I went one more step and completed Usui on Legends of the Street. Once I got the nicee little "Racer Level Increased" or something like that, I was very happy.

21 Stars lit on my card. All that's left if 5 more Bunta Stars and 4 more Battle Stars (Need 21, 24, 27, and 30) to get the complete set of 30 stars.

So how about them Steelers?
Because I watched the Super Bowl and had a LOT of time on my hands, let me show you the REAL reason Pittsburgh won:

#7 Ben Roethlisberger
#86 Hines Ward

Still don't see it? Let's modify it a bit:

#(RX-7) Ben "Takahashi" Roethlisberger
#(AE)86 Hines "Fujiwara" Ward

That's right. The best Project D is a good offense. It even matches their purposes. Roethlisberger, the quarterback, throws the ball up (uphill). "Fujiwarda" catches it as it comes "downhill".

See, even football can be explained through Initial D!

Version 2 Day 2
Okay, remember that machine I ranted about yesterday?

I went back to the mall with some fresh moolah and decided to try a couple of the things. I managed to get the wheel more or less centered during one of its infinite revolutions by using the menu screens. I fine-tuned it using the outside view displayed when my stock Evo III (on Usui) was displayed from the front. Then I took a round to get used to the wheel. The results were better than I expected:

1st run: stock Evo III on Usui, don't remember my time but it was a decent one
2nd run: stock AE85 on Akina DH. The record on the right side was a 3'14 with an Impreza. I ran a 3'08. Registered time as BEANS.
3rd run: made a card with an 85. Akagi DH record was 2'26 with an Integra (big surprise). I ran a 2'41 because I was talking to Dusty on the phone during the race.
4th run: Happo out with BEANS. 2'47, 3rd place (behind two Integras at 2'44 and 2'30).

All in all, not bad for a fucked up wheel. I intend to make myself known to the Michigan ricers.

P.S. The left side has some scary times...but if my experience with Special Stage shows anything, I'm made for the Version 2 physics. The left side's Akina DH record is 3'00"375 with an FD (!!). My record on SS is 2'58"799 with the 85, but that will NOT be easy to meet, let alone top.

THE GOOD: I found an Initial D machine in Franklin Park Mall in Toledo, Ohio. Version 2.

THE BAD: The left side's coin slot is unusable, but the wheel and shifter are fine.

THE UGLY: The wheel on the right side has no force feedback, and it doesn't lock (i.e., turn it far enough right and it resets to all the way left).

I tried to do Iro in my beloved Evo III. It was an adventure getting through the menus and even down the first straight since the wheel was improperly aligned, but the real fun began when I tried to TURN. Remember that little "turn too far and the wheel reverses" thing? Now, since I didn't know where the wheel was centered and I was used to jerking the wheel to turn, I tried to do so in this instance. It resulted in a number of rapidly reversing 270's for about 40 seconds before I was able to somewhat right myself.

I didn't make it to the first checkpoint.

Merry Christmas from Live Evil
Live Evil was nice enough to give a holiday treat to people.

Episodes 19-22, covering the Ibaraki and God Arc, have been completely subbed by them.

Wish I had a fast internet connection and a BT but I'll have to live through other people. I will say this, though. The episodes are simply beautiful.

Meeting tonight will focus on the rankings, since I never got back to you all about that. Also, I'll try to explain as best as I can about moving up in the teir list if you so desire.

Meeting should be around 8:30 PM. Hope to see some of you there. If you cannot make it, no biggy. ^_^

See ya.

The cappucino dominates Myogi and makes 15 star Bunta its bitch.
Like I did today.
If you beat 15 stars he doesn't insult you, even if you hit wall a couple times.

Wong was really amused when I made a remark about being able to farm Bunta.

Next stop: push my limit on Happo.

Gentlemen... BEHOLD!
RICE! Self-pimping gone horribly bad. I would have liked to take a picture from the front where he had like 20 different decals on it, but I didn't have the balls to take a picture of something so ugly up close like that.

Yes... spraypainted white (including the taillights?!?!?) with a blue gastank cover and decals all over the windows and front hood. Not to mention the paperthin rear spoiler and the plastic-bag rear window. gg ricers.

Tofu and Coffee
I had one of the most intense Bunta races ever, today, as Mark will attest to.
Akina, three stars.
My Cappucino.
The lead changed back and forth a bit, I managed to hold a lead on the four hairpins and get a little bit of space leading into the that hard righthander that sets up the whole fourth section. Just to note - that turn shall henceforth be known as the Kingmaker, because as most of us know, if Bunta is leading around that turn, it's virtually impossible to pass him afterwards.
So I took the Kingmaker a tad slow but cleanly and shot down the stretch with Bunta gaining. His leadfoot acceleration hax got him on my butt around the next bend so I had to keep blocking him the rest of the way, fighting to control my car which was nearly sideways at some points. I kinda caught the gutter on the last turn and still had to be blocking him at 158, but I won, dammit. Final time 3.08.8, not my fastest, but good enough.

It feels good to have four stars on every Bunta course now for that car. However, I think I'm going to work on a couple other areas before tackling that next level Akina run.

So, anyone want to tell about what they think was their best Bunta race?

I hope everyone is ready for some battling tonight. The theme for tonight is going to be battle crazed. This will be one of the last ways for me to make a list, so I hope people can come out and play some games tonight. If not, I'll have to go based on what I have seen in other battles, so it's not too bad. But I'm hoping to get people to play tonight.

8:30 at the Reitz. Be there or be left in the RX-7 dust. :P

Planning is in order
Hello to everyone in the racing world. Tis your leader and fellow racer.

A lot of talk has been thrown around about 'standings' and 'teirs' and 'strings'. I'm here to clear up anything that may be questioned by you all.

The idea of stringers, etc came to me when that RE*NE guy was around. I realized that we needed people to take on other people of similar level, so that should they be taken to a course that the opponent has an advantage on, then it's not too much of a big deal. Also, the idea of strings gave me the focus of who needs more attention than others. For example, Alan is going to need more help than, say, Wong or TJ. In this manner, we all can help one another to find where we need to work on and stuff.

Additionally, the idea for finding where we all stand has been thrown around as well. Here's my plan and you're free to change it as you think it would benefit the most people:

Next Thursday, I will be holding a meeting in the far corner of the Reitz Union, in the food court area. Anyone who can make it is free to come. You'll be able to see me quite clearly. From there, I'm going to explain the idea behind the group and what I want to do with everything that I'm planning. We will then go downstairs for the first idea of where people are in terms of levels. The method for testing this is very simple: I'm going to spend the next week going over courses and finding one that will allow people to find their ranks. Then I will choose a car that is to be driven by everyone in the group on said course. It could be something good for people, like a S15 on Usui, or something a bit tougher, like a NA6CE (5 Speed Miata) on Happo. You will be given two runs of the course and then the two times will be averaged together to make a score. From there, I can gain a little bit of insight on the drivers and make a rough ranking.

I will make this disclaimer now: This is not the end-all ranking. We are all getting better at the game and the rankings will change as time goes on. I'm just doing this in this manner so that I can gain a deeper insight on how people's styles and stuff work. If you all wanted me to, I could make a pentagon, similar to the one used in DDR, to make for like turning, style, etc.

As for now, it's probably best to be practicing, going to gator nights to meet up with people, and to just keeping up. I want this group to work out and so far, everyone is progressing nicely.

See Ya Next Stage.

Oh, and in case you didn't notice, this is the new lj. New age calls for new lj style. gtrracer will be retired by the end of this weekend.
